Glorinda’s services

Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG)

Glorinda supports LNG projects from early concept through to delivery, engineering, procurement and integration under one roof.

About the technology

Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG)

Liquefied natural gas is natural gas cooled to around -162°C, which shrinks it to a fraction of its original volume, compact enough to store in a much smaller footprint, or to move without a pipeline. A complete LNG solution links three stages, liquefaction at the supply point, storage and transport, and regasification at the point of use. Glorinda works across this full value chain, from Mini LNG plants to large-scale liquefaction plants and terminals.

Your solution can be LNG

“There’s no pipeline to our site.”.

The starting point

What problem does it solve?

Success on an LNG project depends on integrating technology, engineering, equipment and suppliers, not just picking the right liquefaction process. Early missteps here can affect performance and cost for decades. Glorinda’s role is making sure those calls get made deliberately, weighing technical and commercial factors together.

Why it pays

Benefits

Unlocks stranded gas reserves

Gas reserves too remote for a pipeline connection can still be monetized by converting them to LNG for shipment.

A cleaner-burning fuel

Natural gas burns with virtually no sulfur oxides and far less particulate matter than diesel or heavy fuel oil.

A globally traded commodity

LNG is bought and sold globally, letting buyers draw on multiple suppliers and international pricing instead of one regional source.

More energy per delivery

By volume, LNG holds roughly twice the usable energy of compressed natural gas, so each delivery moves more fuel.

Process

Solutions

Glorinda develops and delivers five LNG solution types, each configured to the gas source, the offtake and the market it needs to serve:

LNG Liquefaction Plants

Large-scale liquefaction facilities that convert wellhead gas into LNG for export, terminal supply or long-distance transport, sized to the feed gas and production capacity each project requires.

LNG Regasification Terminals

Marine receiving and send-out facilities that convert imported LNG back into natural gas, integrated with local gas networks or combined-cycle power plants.

LNG Storage & Terminal Solutions

Cryogenic storage tanks, boil-off gas management, transfer pumps and truck or marine loading interfaces, sized to a project’s capacity, safety and logistics requirements, standalone or as part of a wider distribution network.

LNG Virtual Pipelines & Distribution

Cryogenic transport tanks and satellite regasification stations that carry natural gas beyond the pipeline network, to sites a permanent connection doesn’t yet justify.

Mini & Modular LNG

Small- and medium-scale liquefaction, storage and regasification skids, delivered as modular, expandable trains. Off-grid factories buy LNG elsewhere and use Glorinda’s storage and regasification facilities to turn it back into gas on site; on-grid factories have Glorinda liquefy and store their own pipeline or municipal gas, drawing down cheaper gas during shortages or price spikes to avoid production downtime.

Engineering detail

Which LNG solution suits your needs?

Selecting a train configuration is an engineering decision, not a purchasing one. We characterise the gas source, run feasibility and pre-feasibility studies, compare routes on capital and operating cost, and act as owner’s engineer while somebody else builds it if that suits you better.

Process

How it works

Every LNG project has its own conditions and constraints that shape the final configuration. Glorinda’s role adapts to the project strategy, acting as EPC partner, engineering and procurement partner, procurement management partner, or owner’s technical representative.

01

Project development

Characterising the gas source and project objectives, and testing them against realistic equipment, supplier and site options, so the project’s scope, capacity and strategy are confirmed before capital is committed.

02

Technology selection

Screening candidate liquefaction processes — Propane Pre-Cooled Mixed Refrigerant (C3MR), Dual Mixed Refrigerant (DMR), Optimised Cascade, Nitrogen Expansion and hybrid configurations — down to the one that fits the project.

03

Concept development & Pre-FEED

Defining the major process areas, equipment and power requirements, then coordinating Pre-FEED activities to reduce uncertainty before major capital and procurement decisions are made.

04

Procurement & vendor engagement

Sourcing and evaluating suppliers for critical equipment through structured RFQ management, bid evaluation and negotiation support.

05

Engineering integration

Reviewing and coordinating process, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and layout interfaces across technology providers and equipment suppliers, catching gaps and unsuitable assumptions before they reach site.

06

Construction, commissioning & support

Technical supervision and coordination on site, pre-commissioning and commissioning support, and performance verification, working alongside qualified local or international construction partners.

GLORINDA

Sustainability

Energy efficiency and environmental performance are increasingly central to LNG project development. Glorinda evaluates the following as part of the overall project strategy, not as separate additions:

Electrification of major equipment and electric compressor drives

Waste heat recovery and energy optimisation

Emissions reduction and compliance with tightening environmental regulations

Carbon capture readiness

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

The feed gas composition and contaminants, site temperature and humidity, the capacity and turndown required, power availability, site footprint, and equipment and supplier lead times. These are the factors we weigh before recommending a process, rather than defaulting to whichever one we used last time.

Larger LNG developments may qualify for Glorinda’s German authority-backed project financing framework, available for real-economy infrastructure projects with a total value between €20 million and €350 million. Speak to us early in project development to check eligibility.

It depends on site access, transportation routes, equipment dimensions and weight, local infrastructure, construction capability and project economics, it isn’t automatically the right choice for every project.

Yes, for licensed processes we coordinate directly with the technology licensor on process guarantees, scope boundaries and interface requirements, alongside the equipment suppliers and construction contractors on the project.
